7 to 16 July | Opening 7 July, 7pmReflections of Inscape by Laura Elaine Sloan tackles issues of space and identity, with a focus on the natural. The idea of ‘nature’ and ‘wilderness’ acts as a separatist backdrop to urban modern society; wherein its importance as a platform for a progression of ideas is diminished.
Laura uses only memory based snippets from her research, resulting in an out of time happening with particular forms, textures and auras prevailing through her self-specific experience of the landscape. She aims to lead the seer to consider their own understanding of presupposed surroundings and how inflections of the environment informs their own sense of self.

Space ready and  fully broken in after about a week, currently placed at Array Studios on Kings Street. Great space, found that I cant get into a productive state quite quickly, close to town for supply runs and exhibition viewings which is unbelievably handy. My studio-mate is Ellie Niblock, textile/sculptural/fine-artist and all round inspiration machine.  She  currently creates forms based around the states of consciousness that are activate during the formulation and actualization of ideas. Objects that come from a state of mental flow and realize themselves as independent and tactile, she writes, 'The colours I use represent the emotions felt by people. The form demonstrates the confusion through the use of shape and texture, which portray a train of thought that equates with the particular condition of the mind.' http://www.ellieniblock.co.uk/ Give her a look if your interested!  Keep you posted!

Final Presentation Semester 1
For the end of Semester one I presented a series of acitates alongside a large scale painting of abstract achitectural shapes. I was quite happy with the end result, however I was later told I would have recieved a higher overall mark if I had presented my other large scale painting (oops, oops, oops) regardless I recieved a mark that I was extremely pleased with!  Accompanying this work I had collages, prints, a logbook of activity, a project book, a file for artist's research, first hand photos and large paper drawings. For this project our modules included studio practice (40 credits), which included all practical artwork and research, history and theory (10 credits) which was sumbitted online and professional practice (10 credits) which was presented as a critical report, an activity logbook and a research file.
